Join IWPR’s Women and Foreign Policy Initiative for a roundtable discussion with two international women leaders, Katarzyna Pisarska, Founder and Director of the European Academy of Diplomacy in Warsaw, and Viviana Waisman, President and CEO of Women's Link Worldwide. IWPR's Federiga Bindi will moderate. The event is organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Spain in the US.

Katarzyna Pisarska, PhD, currently a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Public Diplomacy and the University of Southern California, is Associate Professor at Warsaw School of Economics and the founder and director of the European Academy of Diplomacy in Poland. She is also Program Director of the Warsaw Security Forum and a Young Global Leader with the World Economic Forum in Davos. In 2013, Dr. Pisarska was named one of the “99 under 33” most influential world foreign policy leaders by the Diplomatic Courier in Washington, DC. Previously, Professor Pisarska was a Fulbright Visiting Fellow at Harvard University, a Visiting Scholar at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, the University of Oslo, and at the Australian National University. She is the author of the book, The Domestic Dimension of Public Diplomacy: Evaluating Success Through Civil Engagement.

Viviana Waisman an expert in women’s rights and international human rights law, is the President and CEO of Women's Link Worldwide, which she founded in 2001 in response to what she perceived as a glaring need to advance women’s rights in national courts by applying international and regional human rights standards. Her publications include, The Prosecution of Sexual and Gender Crimes in the National Courts of ArgentinaBridging the Divide: Women's Access to Justice; Reproductive Rights 2000: Moving Forward (editor); and Women of the World Anglophone AfricaLaws and Policies Affecting their Reproductive Lives. Prior to founding Women’s Link, she worked as a consultant for the United Nations Population Fund in New York, as an attorney at the Center for Reproductive Rights in New York, and as an associate at the law firm Gray, Cary, Ware & Friendenrich in California.

Federiga Bindi, PhD, is a Senior Fellow at IWPR where she directs the Women in Foreign Policy Initiative. She is also a tenured Professor of Political Science and Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, where she founded and directed the Jean Monnet EU Center of Excellence (2004-2012), and a non-resident scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Her books include, The Foreign Policy of the European Union: Assessing Europe’s Role in the WorldThe Frontiers of Europe: A Transatlantic Problem?; Italy and the EU; Analyzing European Union Politics and, most recently, Europe and America: The End of Transatlantic Relations?
